McKeesport Art Group hosts artist Barry Shields at 7:15 p.m. Monday, April 15.
Barry grew up in the Pittsburgh area and received his degree in fine arts from The Philadelphia College of Art. His Masters Degree in Art Teaching is from Carnegie Mellon University.
He specializes in plein air work (outdoors) in the gouache-painting medium. Cityscapes are his routine subjects.
Barry taught art in Pittsburgh public schools before coming to both the University of Pittsburgh and the Penn State University ten years ago. He has been teaching introductory studio art courses to college students at these schools ever since.
He has had many exhibitions in western Pennsylvania and his work is part of numerous private and corporate collections. Presently, he is teaching drawing and painting at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
The meeting is in the art room of McKeesport Area High School and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
